The content of the class remains a hands-on design class on VLSI design, but we have added a flexible lab with an extra unit of credit to reflect the design content. See the webpage for this course at

What this course is about: This course will explain to students how modern computer-communication networks work. The emphasis will be on Layer 1 (Physical) and Layer 2 (Link) of the OSI 7-Layer model, with some attention paid to Layer 3 (Network). The course will be largely descriptive, as opposed to mathematical, and will involve some laboratory work.
