UH team with EE students places in National ASME Innovation Showcase

The SmarTummy team of Larry Martin (MS EE student), John Salle (MS EE alum), Scott Miller (ME faculty),  Dr. Walton Shim (JABSOM faculty), and David Yarber (JD student) has now achieved national recognition by taking 3rd place at the 2014 ASME Innovation Showcase.  The 2014 award included $10,000 seed money to further develop their product.  Last year their innovation was awarded first place at the 2013 UH Business Plan Competition,

The team developed an abdominal simulator designed to fill a ubiquitous void in the medical, nursing, and emergency medical service (EMS) education industries: a reliable and accurate means to train students in abdominal palpation exams.
