David Garmire received a Ph.D. in EECS from UC Berkeley after completing a B.S. in computer science with a minor in physics and a B.S. in mathematics at Carnegie Mellon University.

His research areas include MicroElectroMechanical Systems (MEMS), computer aided design (CAD) for MEMS, computer vision, and computational biology.
