Yuanzhang Xiao is an assistant professor from Hawaii Center for Advanced Communications at University of Hawaii at Manoa. Prior to this, he was a postdoctoral researcher from Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Northwestern University. He got his PhD from UCLA in 2014, and his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Tsinghua University in 2006 and 2009. He is the recipient of the 2013-2014 Dissertation Year Fellowship from UCLA.

He is broadly interested in any decision making problems, especially problems that can be solved by optimization, reinforcement learning, and game theory. He has worked on a variety of applications, such as wireless communications, power systems, and socio-technological networks. He is always eager to learn about new applications, and is recently exploring signal processing in antenna array design and metamaterial design.
