NEW: Spring 2017 Principal Investigator, Establishing Scholarship for Service Program at University of Hawaii at Manoa. Now, we have our own SFS program from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2021 (NSF DGE-1662487), with an expected total of $5,168,370. We will support 24 or more SFS scholars to pursue their careers in cyber security related areas such as CS, EE, or related IT amjors. Qualified Students please see the UHM NSF SFS web site.
NEW: Fall 2016 Vertically Integrated Projects (VIP): We are starting a VIP project around UAS applications and security. The goal is to combined design projects (EE296/396/496) into an integrated project with more detailed mentoring, deeper technical skill development, and focused experience.
NEW: Aug. 2016 Principal Investigator, a subaward of NSF CyberCorps SFS Program at the University of Alabama at Huntsville. We have about $190K to support three students starting Fall 2016.

General research areas: computer systems and networks, distributed systems and applications, and advanced computer architecture.
Current research areas: computer and network security and user privacy, including anonymous communications and data sharing, security and privacy in cloud systems and applications, unmanned aerial system (UAS) security, IoT security, real-time networks and security, smart grid security, and other security and privacy issues in distributed systems. Past research projects were on Quality of Service, multimedia streaming and content distribution, cable broadband networks, etc.
Financial assistantship now is available for motivated PhD students for computer network and security projects. Please send me your resume and related statements or doc.
