Abstract:

The Hawaiian Electric Companies have carried out research, demonstration and customer programs to promote electrification of transportation and electrics vehicle charging for over a decade. The transition to alternatively fueled transportation will reduce Hawaii's dependency on fossil fuels, in line with its goal of 100 percent renewable electricity by 2045. Electrifying transportation, especially with renewable generation, is cleaner, more efficient and less expensive for EV customers and it provides system efficiencies that can benefit the grid and thereby all utility customers. The Hawaiian Electric Companies continue to advance delivery of clean, cost-effective and reliable power to its customers. This presentation provides an overview of Hawaiian Electric Companies' support of transportation.
