Tuition Information

Tuition and fees for full-time graduate study (12 or more credit hours) are different for residents and nonresidents with discounts for students from the western region (WUE) of the continental United States or Pacific Islands and military service. Please see the UH Tuition Schedule for current rates.  Total cost for a year at the University of Hawaii at Manoa has been estimated on the UH Foundation's Cost of Attendance and UH Financial Aid Services' 2021-2022 Cost of Attendance and Office of Admissions which is also presented for engineering students below. 

Tuition Status Exemption:  The University of Hawaii Board of Regents allows the following non-resident categories to pay the in-state or a lowered tuition rate:

  • Native Hawaiian
  • Pacific Institutional
  • Active Duty Military
  • Veteran
  • Hawaii Based Guard/Reserve
  • UH Faculty/Staff

The cost of attendance is designed to provide students with projected costs to attend for an academic year. The totals above are subject to change upon approval by the Board of Regents. The Housing and Meals total reflects the highest cost meal plan option.
