Blockchain: A very brief introduction on the underlying technology of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies

This seminar introduces Blockchain as the underlying technology for protocols such as Bitcoin, Hyperledger and other cryptocurrencies and decentralized electronic ledger systems. We review concepts such as Byzantine Fault Tolerance, early and modern consensus mechanisms, as well as introduce a few essential applications currently deployed and envisioned.

Biography:

Axel is an IEEE Senior Member, M.Sc. Electrical Engineering, B.Sc. Electrical Engineering, B.Tech. Mechatronics, Control & Automation. His background is extensive and multidisciplinary including IT, Manufacturing Automation, Consumer Electronics Product Development, Banking Automation, Computer Vision, Pattern Recognition and Signal Processing. Axel currently is the VP of Engineering for the Honolulu-based AgTech startup Smart Yields, contributing to the creation of a better, smarter food-production system.
