Date:  Thu, January 28, 2010
Time:  1630 to 1745
Location:  Holmes Hall 389
Speaker:  Prof. Berthold Horn, MIT

Abstract: Dynamic reconstruction  is a computational imaging method thatgeneralizes CT (tomography), and MRI, and CA (coded aperture) imaging.
Applications include detecting SNM (special nuclear materials) at a
distance using imaging methods, and detecting IED (improvised explosive
devices) at a distance using back-scattered X-rays.

Bio: Prof. Berthold Horn is a Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science
and also a Professor of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at MIT.  He received
his B.S. from Univ. of the Witwatersrand,  and his
M.S. and Ph.D. from MIT.  He has been a faculty at
MIT since 1973,   He is well know for his research in machine vision and
computational imaging.  He received the Rank Prize for pioneering work that led to
early vision systems.  He is a Fellow of AAAI and a member of NAE.   In 2009 he received
the Azriel Roesenfeld Lifetime Achievement Award from the IEEE Computer Society for
his pioneering work in early vision.
