Abstract:

Using oil and other fossil fuels result in emission of ash and CO2 to the atmosphere which results in global warming and environmental contamination. This has changed people's perception as new more efficient technologies are being developed to reduce energy consumption. The main core of the presentation is related to optimizing energy usage. We discuss solar forecasting methods which is a requirement for efficient integration of solar generation into the power grid. We discuss reliability of the electric grid using an insurance framework. Finally, we discuss energy efficient scheduling algorithms for pumping water networks.
