Abstract:
Luis A. Vega, Ph.D. will describe activities at the Hawaii National Marine Renewable Energy Center (HINMREC) of the Hawaii Natural Energy Institute (HNEI) at the University of Hawaii. HINMREC (http://hinmrec.hnei.hawaii.edu/) was established to facilitate the commercialization of Wave Energy Conversion (WEC) devices and the development of Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) technologies.
About the speaker:
Luis A. Vega, Ph.D. has degrees in mathematics, engineering and ocean sciences from the US Naval Academy, CALTECH and UC San Diego. He has over 30 years field experience working in renewable energy projects ranging from rural electrification with PV and small wind in Pacific Island Nations to the five-year operation of an experimental OTEC plant in Hawaii.
