Abstract
A pattern is a best practice proven solution to a problem that is derived from real systems, occurs repeatedly in a given context, contains extensive discussion of when it is appropriate to use that includes positive and negative consequences of usage. Anti-patterns or negative patterns are common practices that may look convenient, appropriate, beneficial, attractive, and reasonable but are harmful in the long run and must be avoided. The common causes of anti-patterns in Software Engineering and Management are lack of awareness, skills, knowledge, and experience.
This presentation will review few Software Engineering and Management anti-patterns and discuss healthy patterns.
Bio
Kishore Erukulapati, PhD, is a senior IT consultant with 22 years of experience in IT Industry. He received a PhD Degree in Technology Management from Indiana State University in Terre Haute. He also holds Master of Science in Quality Assurance and Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering degrees. Kishore is a Certified Senior Technology Manager, a Certified Quality Manager, and a Certified Scrum Master. He also holds Professional, Academy for Healthcare Management (PAHM) designation.
Kishore’s functional experience includes Life Insurance, Banking, Retail, Telecom, and Health Insurance with leading organizations including Blue Cross Blue Shield Affiliated Plans and multinational corporations such as AT&T, IBM, and Deutsche Bank. He delivered responsibilities as Test Manager, Operations Manager, Project Manager, IT Architect, IT Specialist, Sr. Systems Analyst, IT Consultant and Analyst /Programmer. He gained global and diverse experience by working in the USA (Eastern USA, Western USA, Midwestern USA, and Hawaii), the UK, Germany and India.
Kishore is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), chair of IEEE Hawaii Computer Society chapter, chair of IEEE Hawaii Section, and IEEE Region 6 Awards committee member. He also served as vice-chair and secretary of IEEE Hawaii Section, vice-chair of IEEE Hawaii Computer and Communications chapters, membership chair and secretary of American Society for Quality (ASQ) Hawaii Section.
