Students Monica Umeda and Bob Nakata place 1st and 3rd in PACE Business Plan Competition

First place honors (and a $10,000 cash prize) went to the Akabotics team consisting of Monica Umeda (MS EE student) and Newton Parks (Architecture student) at the 2015 UH Business Plan Competition.  The team is developing an autonomous robotic platform used to conduct continuous maintenance dredging on shallow waterways.

Third place honors (and $2,500 cash and $4,500 value in accounting, legal and marketing services) went to the Oahu Group team of EE PhD student Bob Nakata and Rittz Reyes.   The Oahu Group is developing a wearable motion tracker prototype that creates the capability for interactive immersive virtual reality gaming that projects the user’s body motion into the virtual world.



The competition is hosted by the Shidler College of Business Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship
