Student Larry Martin & Alumnus John Salle place 1st in 2013 UH Business Plan Competition

First place honors (and a $10,000 cash prize) went to the "SmarTummy" team consisting of Larry Martin (MS EE student), Scott Miller (ME faculty), John Salle (MS EE alum), Walton Shim (JABSOM faculty), and David Yarber (JD student) at the 2013 UH Business Plan Competition.  The team developed an abdominal simulator designed to fill a ubiquitous void in the medical, nursing, and emergency medical service (EMS) education industries: a reliable and accurate means to train students in abdominal palpation exams.

The competition is hosted by the Shidler College of Business Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship and sponsored by American Savings Bank.  Winners were announced April 30, 2013.   More information and a UH video report of the event and interview with Larry Martin are here.
