Paul Schmitt is an assistant professor in the Electrical & Computer Engineering department at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He received his PhD from UC Santa Barbara in 2017, and M.S. and B.A. degrees from the University of St. Thomas. Prior to joining the University of Hawaiʻi, Paul was a research computer scientist at the USC Information Sciences Institute and was previously an associate research scholar at Princeton University.
His research interests include networked systems, privacy, network traffic inference and analysis using machine learning, scalable Internet measurement, and connectivity in developing regions. In particular, he is interested in creating immediately deployable solutions that are compatible with existing infrastructures.
