Computers in Holmes Hall ECE classroom labs: Domain Accounts needed for use!

If you are enrolled in a laboratory course, or you would like to use the PCs in Holmes 387, you can request an account via this Lab Account Service Request form.

More info about the ELEC domain accounts:

We are using Redirected Folders instead of Roaming Profiles. Some of your Profile folders – Desktop, Documents, and Pictures, will be stored on the storage file server and will be pulled from the server only when accessed. That is, you can save files on the Desktop, in the My Documents folders, or in the "U:" drive, and they will be available to you the next time you login at any of our ELEC domain PCs. Customizations saved in the AppData folder (such as Chrome bookmarks) will not be shared between PCs. This new paradigm should reduce logon wait times that some students have experienced in the past.

Recommendations for ECE ELEC domain account logins:

Try to stagger logins at the beginning of a lab class: Students who get there early should go ahead and login as soon as they can to minimize the heavy network traffic that can occur if everyone tries to login at the start of the lab.

Store files on U: drive. You are given 500MB of storage with your account, to have readily available for whichever EE lab you are working in from week to week.

Your account will have “U:” user drive. This is a better location to store files (up to 500MB sum total). The U: drive will appear as another drive below Local Disk with your username under the Microsoft "Computer" link. image of how the U drive looks in Windows Explorer  Files placed here are stored immediately on an intranet cloud. If you try to store files on the C: drive; they will not have security protections and may not be available to you at your next login.
